Ukes for Small Spaces

Concord, Deanna Welch

A classroom set of ukuleles will be purchased to teach Concord students a new way of making music.

 

Elementary Multilingual Library

Concord, Cornelia, Countryside, Creek Valley, Highlands, Normandale

Liz Parker (CC & ND), Crystal Sorensen (CN), Kathryn Gimse (CS), Kerry Feyder (CV), and Liz Denn (HL)

A multilingual book selection will be purchased for each of our 6 Edina Elementary Schools.  Books will help acclimate our English Language Learners to our schools and help widen the variety in our library for all of our students.

 

Story Workshop: Bringing Stories to Life

Highlands, Leslie Stageberg and Laura Gilmore

Professional teaching artists from the Children’s Theatre Company will work with our kindergartens at Highlands.  Students will enhance their literacy and creative writing through theatre arts and storytelling.

 

Classroom to Community!  Edina Student Public Art Project

Cornelia, Shannon Steven

This project will provide opportunities for all EPS elementary students to explore the world of public art in Edina. Students will be invited to create a small “maquette” – a scale model of a potential three-dimensional work.

 

Oregon Scientific Smart Globes with Augmented Reality

Normandale, Kany Seck

Globes will be used to help our Normandale students better understand the world around them.

 

Bringing Geology to Life

South View Middle School, Jim Caspar and Janel Weiland

Every 7th grader going through South View will get a hands-on experience of working with a Em2 River Geomodel from Little River Research & Design.

 

Resurrecting Nonfiction

South View Middle School, Emily Hope Hofher

This grant will be used to increase the size of the South View nonfiction section of the library. 

 

Identity in Photography

Valley View Middle School, Karen Uhler

Students will learn about photography and composition from an internationally-renowned artist and have the opportunity to create and display original art based around interdisciplinary themes that are part of the 8th grade curriculum.

 

Creativity through Music Composition

Valley View Middle School, Melody Snyder and Dan Mollick

Students will work with a professional composer to write a piece of music of their own that they can perform.

 

The Layered Earth

Valley View Middle School, Tim Ronhovde and Michelle Stein

Funds would be used to give each student access to the Layered Earth software.

 

Fashion Supplies

Edina High School, Kourtnee Baukol

The EHS Fashion course teaches through application and personalized learning. New sewing machines will be purchased for this course.

 

Inspiration!

Edina High School, Geneva Fitzsimonds

A commissioned work for concert band and 5th grade band to celebrate the legacy of William Webb in the EPS.

 

360 Sonic and Visual Experience!

Edina High School, Nicholas Gaudette

The Edina Orchestra Program will purchase necessary equipment to video record and live stream performances to any group of individuals online including other Edina music classrooms, educational specialists, and professional performing artists.  This equipment can be used by any interested music or non-music program in our schools.

Edina Gardens is for students to access curriculum through growing products such as vegetables, flowers and fruit.
